An effort to help the environment

Here’s One Pollution Solution

Like I’ve said in other blog posts, cars, factories, and fossil fuels are a huge factor of pollution. But another thing that contributes a lot to air pollution is the amount of methane from cows.

What Is the Problem?

The problem is that cows release methane. Lots of animals do. 1 But cows are a big part of it. According to the Week Jr., they produce the same amount of pollution as 650 million cars. But also according to The Week Jr., putting red seaweed in cows’ diets reduces the amount of methane considerably. Most people probably don’t know how much methane cows are releasing, and it’s harming the environment a lot. It turns out that it is not just cars, trucks, factories, and fossil fuels polluting. I think that we need to support our farmers so that they know why they should be feeding their cows red seaweed. If you want to check out the study that found out that proved this, click this link: Feeding cows seaweed substantially reduces their methane emissions

What Can We Do to Help?

There’s lots of things that we can do to help this situation get better. You can tell other people about this study, or share this post with your friends and family. I think that it would be great if there is a law that says that cows need to have a little bit of red seaweed in their diet. I decided to write the following letter to Joe Biden. I’m hoping that he will read it!

Dear President Joe Biden,

My name is Julia Walsh, and I’m 12 years old. I recently read an article in Time about your $2.65 trillion jobs plan and how many efforts are being put into place to stop the problem of climate change. I saw in your jobs plan that $400 billion is going to clean energy tax credits. The article explains how most of the other things included in your package will use clean energy and will be good for the environment. I think that this is an excellent plan for the economy and for the environment.

As I’m sure you’re aware, cows are also a large component of air pollution. I was recently reading The Week Jr. as well, and an article talked about how putting red seaweed in cows’ diets reduces the amount of methane cows release into the air considerably. We need to support our farmers so that they know and understand how red seaweed in cows’ diets will help the environment in large ways. With your plan and reduced cow emissions, the air will be much, much, cleaner, safer, and healthier. I hope that you will take this into consideration and help to support and educate farmers for cleaner and healthier air. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this letter.

Sincerely,

Julia Walsh

Just doing anything to make people aware of how much cleaner things can be if we feed cows red seaweed will help. If we make more people aware of this solution, then it can be fixed.
